Wear your heart in the right place
As a gift for iota tenth birthday, we chose to attach a granny square to a sweatshirt.
Granny squares are the most familiar element of crochet knitting. The squares are like a building block. They can be crocheted in any size and can create any pattern. Throughout history, granny squares have been considered as nomadic elements because they were knitted from leftover yarn and could be knitted on the road.
Adding a crocheted element to a basic fashion item stems from the great importance we find in preserving handicrafts. We see beauty and power in a person making for oneself. Knitting a garment, product or shelter for ourselves is an act of strength, and the knitting process, which takes time, is meditative, regulating, and healing. The very act of knitting creates a safe place and piece of mind, a great beauty that is not only related to the object created.
We included the crochet pattern in case you feel like making one for yourself.
