ATA X IOTA

iota and ATA are brands with similar values; looking to the future, rooted in the present, and in constant dialogue with the past. It was only a matter of time before we collaborated.

The collection was born from a connection to our country, our home, and stories that we carry with us along the way: from the Ben-Gurion House, through the desert and the camel, to Israeli icons. Images of landscape, nature, and identity were hand-knitted at iota, as square patches, and attached to the iconic ATA clothes that we love so much, and hopefully you will too.

The patches sewn onto each of the clothes were crocheted, using a unique technique that breaks down images into basic shapes and reassembles them. Crocheting is a skill that iota specializes in. In our opinion, skill is an area of life in which a person can reach the peak of their creation: through practice, dedication, and deepening. Whether it is a traditional craft or another field, this is where knowledge and body meet and enable a complete creation. Like the ceramicist on the wheel, the climber on a rock or the boxer in the ring, dedication to personal skill is an inseparable part of the story and the path.

The collaboration between ATA and iota was enjoyable and seamless, like a match that seems almost self-evident. But just as clothing that seems effortless, it is precisely the seemingly simple things that are the result of thought, time and hard work behind the scenes.

NU X IOTA

The collaboration with Nurit Kariv began with a desire to combine Iota's handwork and contemporary materials with the colors and playfulness that Nurit brings to her collections.

The bag consists of 18 granny squares, hand-knitted from waxed cotton lace. The squares are hand-sewn to each other and to the bottom of the bag. Granny squares are the most recognizable elements of single crochet knitting. This element goes a long way with us in different sizes and materials and also appears in this project.

Granny squares are like a building block, they can be crocheted in any size and assembled into surfaces. Throughout history, the squares were crocheted from leftover yarn and could be knitted on the go, and were therefore considered a nomadic characteristic.

ADISH X IOTA

We love to collaborate because it keeps us courageous and willing to explore outside our comfort zone. Knowing our values makes it easier for us to align with the right partners.

iota & Adish are both social businesses who create uniquely designed pieces using hand techniques. Both brands expand the boundaries of craft by making the traditional contemporary.

Collaborating makes techniques, styles, stories and people meet. This partnership brought together Syrian refugee women, knitters in Istanbul, Palestinian embroiderers in the West Bank, designers from Tel Aviv and New York.

Iota offers a method. Our mission can be carried out anywhere and is not bound by geography or culture. We work within communities with high rates of unemployment and provide them with fair trade conditions, while creating a sense of community and empowerment.

This sweater is our first wearable design. 100% hand knitted with carefully curated bespoke yarn it is comprised of two-tone diamonds and embellished with a hand-embroidered motif.

IOTA X TOLLMAN'S

The collaboration with Tollmans begins with our shared belief that design can create change. This capsule collection is a mixture of rugs and swings inspired by nature, experiencing, and looking at the landscape around us, close up and from afar. From a wide view of fields and landscapes to textures and tiny details.

Our products thrive on the tension between the meticulous handwork and the industrially produced textile which is designed especially for each collection. For this collaboration we created complex mixtures of threads and colors in both bright and muted tones. We are happy to have found in Tollman's Dot a link for a true dialogue with customers who are also interested in the way things are made and where they come from.

Imagine if each of us chose to incorporate a product based on social action in our home, the world would inherently become a much better place.

ABS OBLECTS X IOTA 2020

Our collaboration was born in early March 2020. While trying to figure out life in the shade of Covid-19, our thoughts wandered out to picnics moments, traveling outside our homes, carrying baskets and bags filled with nice things. We created four objects inspired by the memory of roaming from one place to another. The collection includes two baskets, a vase, and a mirror that offer a dynamic movement, allowing intimate gestures between objects and humans.

We were bound to stay home and local, and we took that opportunity to combine our two familiar disciplines and create a capsule collection - integrating textile craft and ceramics. All the objects in this collection are handmade in Tel Aviv by ABS Objects and iota studio.

IOTA & TOM DIXON SALONE DEL MOBILE 2017

In April 2017, iota was chosen to be part of Tom Dixon's Multiplex in Milan. The complex, aiming to provoke discussion regarding the retail experience of the future, was located in the iconic Cinema and Galleria on Via Manzoni. It housed emerging brands as well as the master brand and became a platform for innovative design. The abundance that bursts out from Teatro Manzoni challenges the contemporary minimalist and clean design zeitgeist.

The space in the theater, a long and high-ceilinged golden-walled space, was inspirational. iota created a place for joint swinging on two fantasy-inspired swings.

PEUGEOT X IOTA

Peugeot approached iota at the Maison Objet Exhibition in 2016. They were searching for bespoke textile possibilities for the new Peugeot autonomous car, which was to be revealed during the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

As they were designing their most technologically advanced, futuristic car, they were seeking a handprint, a crafted, bespoke textile for the carpets. iota's design is based on a manual, traditional technique, but the brands agreed it just might be the future.

iota developed a unique yarn, durable and suitable for the company's needs as well as its own, as a handwork producer. This yarn showcased our abilities in color and structure and has been part of our textile collection ever since.
